This classic British comedy starts off with new ministerial appointment Jim Hacker battling the civil servants in the ministry and follows his political rise to Prime Minister. The show portrayed a caricature of political life where the elected MPs struggle to leave a name in the history books whilst the grinding beauraucratic machine that is the Civil Service strives to maintain the status quo. Stars included Nigel Hawthorne and Paul Eddington.

Series one includes: Open Government, The Official Visit, The Economy Drive, Big Brother, Writing on the Wall, The Right to Know and Jobs For the Boys. Series two features The Compassionate Society, Doing the Honours, The Death List, The Greasy Pole, The Devil You Know, The Quality of Life and A Question of Loyalty. Series three consisted of Equal Opportunities, The Challenge, The Skeleton in the Closet, The Moral Dimension, The Bed of Nails, The Whiskey Priest and The Middle Class Rip Off. Series four featured: The Grand Design, The Ministerial Broadcast, The Smoke Screen, The Key, A Real Partnership, A Victory For Democracy, The Bishop's Gambit and One of Us. And finally series five featured the episodes Man Overboard, Official Secrets, A Diplomatic Incident, A Conflict of Interest, Power to the People, A Patron of the Arts, The National Education Service and The Tangled Web.

WARNING: DVD releases from Warner Brothers Home Video have recently been known to contain an additional embedded code known as Regional Code Enhancement (RCE). In some cases this code may allow the disc to detect if a DVD Player is region specific, or if it has been manufactured or altered in the market to be “region-free” or “multi-region”. If the player is “region-free” or “multi-region” the RCE may not allow the disc to play the program material. It will instead display a message advising that the machine is not authorized to play the disc. The actual wording will be as follows:

Due to the implementation of this system, we are unable to determine whether a disc is RCE encoded prior to its release, and the studios are not forthcoming with this information. Therefore this warning only suggests that the title concerned may be RCE encoded, based on recent releases from Warner Brothers Home Video. Please note however that we are only able to accept returns on genuinely faulty discs, and not those ordered despite this warning. Non-faulty discs will be returned, incurring postage & packing charges. If in doubt, do NOT order this title!
