When a series of skilfully amputated body parts are found at different locations in the Glasgow area, DCI Taggart is assigned to investigate. The discovery of a head and severed limbs at a local rubbish dump provide no definite leads, either to the identity of the victim or the murderer...
Then a vital clue unexpectedly turns up beside the body of a hit and run victim and the investigation gathers momentum.

Flesh And Blood:
DCI Taggart attends the wedding of social worker Janie Ross and jailbird Charlie Forbes. A delivery van carrying explosives is ambushed on the way to the Irish ferry. Two human skulls are found on the site of a new by-pass road and Taggart and Jardine are called to the scene. And so begins an investigation which leads to a pharmaceutical company involved in venom research. When the skulls are stolen from the forensics laboratory it appears that someone doesn't want them identified, someone who will go to any length... including murder.
