The Murder Room Based on PD James's best-selling novel, The Murder Room is set on the edge of Hampstead Heath in London at the Dupayne Museum. The Dupayne is a family-run private museum housing a collection devoted to Britain between the wars. Its most popular attraction is The Murder Room, which features memorabilia of the period's most gruesome real life murders. The founder's death has left the museum's future in doubt. His will stipulates that all three of his heirs must agree to renew its charter. When the noncompliant heir dies in a suspicious fire, Commander Dalgliesh (Martin Shaw) is called to handle the highly sensitive investigation. The circumstances of the death bear an unsettling similarity to one of the Murder Room's most notorious cases. The complicated case consumes most of Dalgliesh's time, and my scuttle his relationship with Emma before it's properly begun.
Death in Holy Orders Based on P.D. James’s best-selling novel, Death In Holy Orders is masterly exploration of an isolated and beleaguered community coping with the evil and disruption of murder. The story is set in St. Anselm's, an Anglican theological college on a desolate stretch of the British coastline. When the body of one of the students is found on the shore smothered by the fall of sand, his wealthy father demands that Scotland Yard should re-examine the verdict of accidental death. Commander Dalgiesh (Martin Shaw) spent time at St. Anselm's as a boy and so agrees to pay a visit. Instead of a nostalgic return to old haunts and straightforward examination of the evidence given at the inquest, he finds himself embroiled in one of the most horrific and puzzling cases of his career. Other visitors come to the college on the weekend of his arrival. Among these is Emma Lavenham, a visiting lecturer from Cambridge University who stirs emotions he thought he had shut away. Before the weekend is over, one of these visitors will be dead.
WARNING: DVD releases from Warner Brothers Home Video have recently been known to contain an additional embedded code known as Regional Code Enhancement (RCE). In some cases this code may allow the disc to detect if a DVD Player is region specific, or if it has been manufactured or altered in the market to be “region-free” or “multi-region”. If the player is “region-free” or “multi-region” the RCE may not allow the disc to play the program material. It will instead display a message advising that the machine is not authorized to play the disc. The actual wording will be as follows:
THIS DISC IS INTENDED FOR PLAY ON NON-MODIFIED REGION 1 PLAYERS. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS REGION 1 DISC. TO ASSURE PLAYBACK YOU SHOULD PURCHASE OR RENT A DISC DESIGNED FOR YOUR REGION.
Due to the implementation of this system, we are unable to determine whether a disc is RCE encoded prior to its release, and the studios are not forthcoming with this information. Therefore this warning only suggests that the title concerned may be RCE encoded, based on recent releases from Warner Brothers Home Video. Please note however that we are only able to accept returns on genuinely faulty discs, and not those ordered despite this warning. Non-faulty discs will be returned, incurring postage & packing charges. If in doubt, do NOT order this title!
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this situation which is beyond our control.
