In the dark and dangerous streets of Paris lurks an underworld full of lowlifes, pimps and hookers. The elite undercover cops turn a pimp (Leotard) into an informer (La Balance) in order to crack the crooked world he inhabits. They use his love of a prostitute (Baye) to force him to work for them.
Fabulous performances from Leotard, Baye, Richard Berry and Christophe Malavoy were rewarded with a host of awards including Cesar's for Best Actress (Baye), Best Actor (Leotard) and Best Film for Director Bob Swaim. It also received five more Cesar nominations.
This gritty, realistic slice of the Parisian underbelly has been much copied but never bettered.
