There's miserable pessimist Uncle Mort, his sharp-tongued sister Annie who is constantly arguing with husband Les, their laid-back son Carter and his not so laid-back wife Pat, and finally old Uncle Stavely who carries his friends' ashes around his neck in a box and only enters the constant bickering with a cry of 'I'eard that! Pardon?'
Les is out of work and Uncle Mort is finding his new obsession for cleaning and complaines about the price of peaches a little odd. Even stavely isn't safe from the feather duster. Anne has a job at the bakers but Les thinks she should get a real job like a hod carrier. And she's still got to fix that washer on the cold tap!
