Pally Lararr's a good cop, a tough and successful detective with the Boston police department, until a cruel twist of fate forces him to hand in his badge. Now, his health shot and his marriage on the rocks, Pally needs to get his life back on track. And it looks like he might when his step-brother, a small time crook and conman, offers him a half-share in a racehorse and with it the chance to make some serious money.
Pally reluctantly agrees to the deal, but all too soon the scam spirals out of control and the ex-cop finds himself committing blackmail and murder just to stay alive.
