A glittering, star-studded celebration of zarzuela composition, singing, and ballet: this Gala e Reyes (Royal Gala) concert features the great tenor Plácido Domingo. In addition to Plácido's brilliant solo singing, the viewer is treated to solos and duets from Spain's to zarzuela singers Guadalupe Sanchez, Teresa Verdera and Paloma Perez Inigo; ballet performances, and orchestral piece, and beautiful choral singing round out the concert.

The program is rich in varied moods and styles: Plácido's enormous charisma and fine interpretive abilities are applied to poignant emotion, sexy comedy, stirring severity. Duets, solos, and dancing keep the evening moving along. The beautifully polished singing of the chorus is featured without soloists (as is the orchestra itself); female singers are featured not only in duet settings with Plácido but also in solo performances that range from great delicacy to earthy wit and sheer gorgeousness.
